Frankie watched Storm as he looked through the photos of her house in all its steps of construction. “What do you think?”

“I think it’s going to be amazing. How big is it?”

“Forty-five hundred square feet. I didn’t want upstairs. I’ve never liked two-story homes. So this house will be spread out. See here where the bedrooms are. This room is the master bedroom, and these five are the children's rooms. The kitchen is big because families always gather in the kitchen.”

They were sitting in Bailey’s room whispering so as not to wake her. Frankie didn’t know if she did the right thing telling Storm about her dream house. I shouldn’t have shown him the five children’s rooms. He looks like he’s going to hyper-ventilate. Hell, Frankie, you’re going to scare him off if you keep talking like that. “There is a beautiful cabin on the other side of the river from my home. I took some photos of it as well.”

Storm didn’t have to look at the photo. That cabin belonged to him. He didn’t get to visit as much as he wanted to. He smiled at Frankie. “I know what that cabin looks like. I own it.”

“What, how do you own it? I’ve always been told the same family has owned that cabin for hundreds of years.”

“Yes, it was my great-grandfather, or maybe it was my great-great-grandfather. There are thirty acres. My grandma and I use to go there when I had school vacation. I loved it. I would swim all afternoon while grams would sit in the shade and watch me. She would cook outside, for some reason, the food was so much better cooked outside. When I got older, I would help her cook. Grams taught me everything I know about cooking. I wish she would have lived longer. Gram was the first woman I ever loved. You are the second woman I’ve loved and the last woman I will ever love. I love you, sweetheart.”

“What did I do to deserve your love? I’m the luckiest woman on this planet.”

“We are both lucky to have each other. There are only a few people in this world who find their true love.”

“Dr. Strong, I’m sorry to bother you, but we have a patient who was just brought in to the emergency room, and there is no surgeon available.”

Frankie jumped up. She turned to Storm. “I have to go now. I’ll see you later.”

“Okay, sweetheart,” he said. Storm watched the doorway for ten minutes after Frankie left. Bailey’s right. Frankie has marriage on her mind. How am I going to tell her I never want to marry? We can live together for the rest of our lives without getting married. Storm whispered.

“I told you. Frankie wants a family. She is building her forever home,” Bailey whispered.

“How long have you been listening in on my conversation with my lady?”

“I only caught the part about her home. Don’t tell her you don’t want to ever marry. If you do, you’ll chase her away for good.
